Rhonda Aikin comes from a very musical family and has been singing since childhood, professionally since her teens. Rhonda's sisters all sang and her Father was a well respected jazz guitarist throughout B.C.and the other Western Provinces. Rhondas Uncle ( Ray Norris) was staff guitarist for the C.B.C. in Toronto throughout the late 50's/60's and played regularly with Oscar Peterson-so Rhonda comes by her talent naturally. Rhonda has sang in professional duos, full bands and has done session work on many local recording projects. Trained at an early age Rhonda decided in 2008 to teach vocals and enrolled in 6 months of vocal/teaching techniques before signing on with the Music Education Centre. Rhonda has performed for the last 3 years in a row for the Victoria Jazz Society at their annual Blues Bash Celebration in Victoria's Inner Harbour to hundreds of spectators and always "brings the house down ! ". Rhondas teaching approach is one of encouragement and experience. Rhonda teaches many styles, pop, blues, rock, etc.,breathing techniques, ear training, mic techniques in a live setting/ performing live, pitch control, etc. Rhonda is accepting students for the 2010 teaching year.
